The Royal Norwegian Society for Development (Norges Vel) is an independent, non governmental - and non-profit organisation, presently consisting of 41 member organisations and 1100 individual members. Our main focus is to contribute to viable local communities through sustainable business development both domestically and in numerous countries worldwide. In addition to our operations in Norway, we are at present involved in different projects in the Balkans, western, eastern and southern Africa and in Central-America.

The greater parts of our staff of 40 professionals are stationed at our main office, located close to Oslo. But we also have regional offices in three major cities throughout Norway. Besides, Norges Vel has country residences in Tanzania, Kosovo and Macedonia. Norges Vel had a turnover of 60 million NOK (€ 7, 5 million) in 2006.

International Experience

Norges Vel has more than 30 years of international experience and nearly 50 percent of our activities are now conducted internationally
Norges Vel operates in 12 - 15 countries worldwide, with a total project portfolio of ca 15 projects, for the time being.

Norges Vel has country residences in Kosovo, Macedonia and regional offices in Tanzania
Norges Vel cooperates closely with The Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA)

The main office of the Royal Norwegian Society for Development is located on the Hellerud Farm - in the municipality of Skedsmo. You will find the farm at Hellerudsletta – along highway 22, about 15 km north-east of Oslo.
